Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to know to receive a blessing?
A blessing is more effective if the recipient is willing to receive it. It is more beneficial if your intention is to restore order to your life.  Hence, as part of your spiritual preparation, there should be an emphasis on setting relationships right.  An attitude of gratitude for God, or for any goodness in your life, is highly recommended! Please do not drink alcohol before or after your blessing.

What should I bring to the session?
Please bring a yoga mat or blanket to lie down in shavasan after the blessing.  Also, bring a back jack or pillow if you wish to sit on the floor and need back and leg support. Regular chairs will be provided.  Dress comfortably! Charlene recommends 15 minutes of rest after the blessing is given. This is your time to relax and be peaceful, so please turn off all cell phones and pagers.

How will Charlene give the blessing?
A blessing is transferred by placing the hands on the crown of your head for a few minutes. Some events may have additional guest deeksha givers who are trained to give a hands-on blessing or blessing by intention.

What kind of benefits will I receive?
Receiving a blessing, in addition to prayer and taking time to contemplate, will help clear your mind and dissolve negative emotions that have stood in the way of your inner truth, awareness, and healing.

A blessing provides different benefits to people depending upon their needs so recipients may not experience a common outcome. Some report mystical experiences or immediate sensations such as a tingling in the head, spinning, feelings of joy, peace or bliss flowing through the body, or even nothing until a later date. Others have an emotional release and cry. Whatever the experience, as long as you remember to love humanity and put God first in your life, all will be well.

A blessing is for all faiths and does not belong to any particular belief system, philosophy or religion.  It helps each person to gain a fuller understanding of their own relationship with the Divine.
